[Thoughts on world events]
At the time I wasn’t really paying attention to the world events, or to what was going on in the bigger world. I was more involved in my friends and socializing than big world events. I was kind of young when John Lenon was shot. I don’t know if I had an opinion, only that it was terrible, terrible thing to have happen. At school we used to go to football games, and it was a lot about socializing. It was fun. I don’t even remember if we won or not; I just remember it was fun being with your friends and cheering your team on. I had friends down in Ballard too from where I started going to high school so I went down there a lot.
[Thoughts on music]
Oh well that when I started getting into it more of the alternative music. Not just the popular kind of rock that was going on at the time. I started getting into ‘Siouxie and the Banshees” and not so much into Rush, and you know more into some Iron maiden and some of those that weren’t quite so popular, and the parents didn’t like so much.
[Friday and Saturday night activities]
We went to a lot of shows, a lot of music shows, and a lot of concerts. Yeah, down in Seattle mostly, because at the time I had friends in a band also, so I was very into the music scene.
[Teachers]
I don’t remember any their names, isn’t that awful? I don’t remember any of the names from Cascade, some that stood out before though. I don’t remember any that stood out for me at Cascade.
[Thoughts on school]
It was very different than it is now. There weren’t as many buildings… there are more buildings now, so it didn’t seem as big as it does now. It was still a nice school though. I remember I wanted to go to Mariner though because it was newer and closer, but it was a nice school, if I remember correctly. But this was quite a few years ago though, and my memories’ not so good.
[Memories form CHS]
I’ll have to think about that. Something I do remember is I don’t remember there being indoor halls, where as in Ballard High School it was an old brick building and all the halls were inside, so it was kind of weird being at Cascade where I was outside more.
My best Memory of Cascade…Well actually I don’t know if it was my best, but what I remember most was my dad coming to school because I was in trouble, we had to go meet with the Vice-Principle because I has skipped school. Isn’t that funny that’s what I remember most?
[Cars, Fashion, Trends]
I remember one that I drove and was so embarrassed was the old Jeep, and the old Ford that no one had ever seen before. It wasn’t sporty, it wasn’t all those things that I wanted it to be, you know. Some of my friends had nice cars, some of them had old beaters, and it was the rage just like it is now. The fashion… well some of it’s coming back now, you know leg warmers, and big sweaters, what else…I remember some white boots that I liked. I don’t remember what other kind of fashion. Big hair, you know lots of hair spray. Aqua Net was popular. I remember a couple of my friends, like my boyfriend and Kirk, who were in bands. I think their hair was bigger than mine. Oh Pac –Man! Yeah! I loved Pac-Man and Mrs. Pac-Man both. I loved them so much. Go to the pizza place, play Pac-Man. I loved MTV too, are you kidding me. MTV started before we moved, before I started living with my dad out here, and going to Cascade, and yeah I loved it. We didn’t have MTV here though, because we didn’t have any TV, but my boyfriend did, so we’d go over to his house and watch MTV for hours.
