Kelly Soros (1981-1985)
Kelly Soros attended Cascade High from 1981 to 1985. She got married and had two children, a lovely boy named Nik and a darling girl named Kayley. She has a very nice husband named Micch (pronounced Mick) whom she married in 1991. She was born and raised in Everett and still resides there while her kids attend Cascade as well. Kelly is a very happy person and wouldn’t choose anyplace else to raise her kids and live in for the rest of her life.
During my time at Cascade my life was great. It was fun because I loved high school and I loved everything about it. I was with the popular group and had plenty of friends. The things I was involved in outside of school besides sports was the honors society, and I was in leadership and the student council, and I was also part of the ASB cabinet, and just very involved altogether. I went to all the games, I went to all the events and just mostly everything. I definitely enjoyed being in high school.
The cliques in our school were the sporty popular people, and that included people that were ASB president, that were involved in sports, and the cheerleaders. Then of course there were the smart people, the brainy people and the library people. There were some that were naughty people, usually we called them stoners, and then there were the nerds. We definitely had some diversity but not nearly as much as there is now.
Clothes from my time would be under the category as clothes from the 80’s. The big brands that were fairly new were Guess jeans, and just anything Guess in general was big back then. Gap was very popular and along with the sweat outfits, usually that the guys would wear, like the Adidas outfits. The letterman jackets and that type of thing were just things people wore a lot too.
In 1984 and 85 Cascade was truly great in their athletics. Basketball and football were the most popular sports in the school and everyone came to the games. Baseball was big but the turnout at games wasn’t as big as out two major sports. Our entire athletics program, really every sport Cascade had, was great and did great. The sport that I played was softball. I played all four years and that was plenty for me.
The way the teachers dressed at Cascade while I was attending was probably a little more formal than most teachers dress now. Although some of the teachers I had were a little younger and a little dressy and a little more casual I think. They didn’t necessarily have suits and ties but they still dressed in a more formal manner than most teachers do now at Cascade.
The classes that I also remember that were my favorites were leadership class, which I happened to love being in everyday and had the most fun in, and my French class that I took as my foreign language and adored very much. Although I did take Spanish for a year I decided to switch into French. I was also a T.A. every year for my favorite teachers and I enjoyed doing that. I also loved my P.E. class and I really just enjoyed doing anything that was active.
The teachers that I had were great also and made my classes a lot of fun. Mr. Dosel was one of my favorite teachers, and we are actually still friends and he came to my wedding. The principal at the time was Dr. Collins, and Mr. Scodeller who the gym was named after was actually there and my teacher one of the years. Mr. Pringle was good, Mr. Price was also a football coach and P.E. teacher, Mr. Millecky, Mr. Cobb, Mr. Laury, and Mr. Mchauslin, Senorita Dorsin, I could just keep going on and on. These were all teachers I had that I remember.
I really do think Cascade was just a place I enjoyed being at and was a really good school for me. Like I said, the teachers were great, my peers were great, all the classes I had and everything was the best. The campus was always nice, and I just had a really good time being there every day. It’s a time in my life which I won’t be able to forget, and the people there were what made Cascade really unique in a positive way.
